Recipes & Ingredients

These caramels were produced by Chowgirls Killer Catering Minneapolis under strict COVID protocols. There are nut products and other allergens on the premises. 

ARGENTINA: Dulce de Leche Caramels

½ cup Butter

1 cup Sugar

1 cup Corn syrup

12 oz Evaporated Milk (1can)

1 tsp Vanilla

½ tsp Salt

 

Grease a 9x9 pan very well. Combine all ingredients but vanilla and salt in a 3qt saucepan. Heat over medium to low flame until mixture reaches 240 degrees stirring occasionally. Once mixture reaches 240 degrees continue stirring as not to scorch the bottom until the mixture reaches 246-248 degrees. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and salt. Carefully pour into greased 9x9 pan. Let cool for at least 3 hours or overnight. Once cooled cut into pieces and wrap in wax paper. Yields: 40 caramels
